How Zapier's Ops Team Stays in Sync with Notejoy
With rapid growth and a remote team of 160+ remote employees worldwide, Zapier stands out for successfully operating with a 100% remote workforce and no office -- a business model that allows Zapier to hire the best talent wherever they live.
For Zapier's Ops team, the rapidly growing business and remote team has required them to be fast-moving and adaptable to keep up with the business. Tasked with keeping the engine room running for new and current employees, the Ops team is composed of people team specialists, accountants, internal development and training, and recruiters. They tackle everything from new hiring policies to financials to internal communications. As the team grew in size from 3 to 13 this year, they needed a tool that was more robust and equipped to a larger team, that also works asynchronously across several different timezones. And to solve this need, they found Notejoy.
How Zapier Operates With Notejoy
As the Zapier team grew, the leadership established core company values to provide guideposts to make decisions. Two of these core values, 'Default to Transparency' and 'Default to Action' guided the Zapier team's decision to choose Notejoy. With a number of new people team policies, including a new hiring process and new internal training initiatives in the works, the team required a tool that enabled them to gather input from multiple members of the team. They wanted to be transparent about the current work in progress, but ensure that they were driving to action.
They leverage Notejoy to collaborate on new and existing internal policies, as well as track and show their work to the rest of Zapier, via a weekly Ops Newsletter. Notejoy is a base of operations for cross-functional projects. For example, with the company summer retreat coming up, there's some projects related to it that require input from people ops, recruiting and finance. Having Notejoy be flexible enough to suit this amount of collaboration has been really helpful, plus the ability to import content from other tools means it functions as the central source of truth for their projects to be worked on before publishing them to the rest of the team.
